21 June 2019Highlights

London: Citi has announced the appointment of Susan Shakespeare as head of its UK Consumer and EMEA International Personal Bank (collectively "Consumer"). Susan will also become an Executive Director of the Citibank UK Limited Board.

In this role, Susan will report to both Gonzalo Luchetti, Head of Consumer Bank for Asia Pacific and EMEA, and James Bardrick, UK head, Citi.

Susan will lead Citi's Consumer Operations in the UK, which focuses entirely on servicing the wealth management sector, serving both on and offshore clients with a strong focus on the affluent and emerging affluent segments.

Gonzalo Luchetti, Head of Consumer Bank for Asia Pacific and EMEA, Citi, commented: We are delighted to have Susan leading our Franchise in the UK. Her extensive experience working as a trusted advisor to GCB senior management on the development and execution of strategy, as well as her in-depth insights into key business drivers, governance, controls and people management will help push our UK business to greater heights.

A 25-year Citi veteran, Susan brings with her a depth and breadth of experience in the consumer bank across different key roles and geographies. She was most recently the Lead Finance Officer for Global Retail Banking and Consumer Lending, and was previously the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief of Staff for EMEA Consumer. She has also held the roles of CFO for the UK Consumer Bank, EMEA Cards, UK Retail and IPB.

Susan's appointment is subject to internal due diligence procedures and regulatory approval. She replaces Salman Haider, who has left the firm to pursue another opportunity.
